Establishment in 1968
Norm’s Ski & Bike Shop has been an integral part of the Keene, NH community for over 50 years. Established in 1968 by Norman Sweeney and his wife Melba on Marlboro Street, our journey began with a deep passion for skiing. Initially known as “Norm’s Ski Shop,” the store quickly gained a reputation for quality.
Entering the World of Biking
In 1980, Norm and his second wife, Gail, decided to take a leap. Consequently, they relocated the business to Martell Court in Keene, a newly built store that still serves as our present location. This expansion marked our entry into the world of biking, leading to a name change: “Norm’s Ski & Bike Shop.” It was a significant turning point in our history.
Jaycee Clark Joins the Team
The year 1980 also welcomed Jaycee Clark, a dedicated bike and ski mechanic, as a full-time team member. Jaycee’s journey with Norm’s Ski & Bike Shop began even earlier when he worked seasonally at the Marlboro Street location while attending college. His dedication and expertise were recognized in the skiing world when he was named one of the top bootfitters in the East/Midwest, featured in the February 1994 edition of SKI IMPACT.
Ownership Transition
July 1997 marked a new chapter as Jaycee and his wife, Patty, became the proud owners of Norm’s Ski & Bike Shop. With their leadership, they continued the tradition of exceptional service and strong customer relationships. Consequently, many patrons returned with their families, creating a strong sense of community.
Passing the Baton
In March 2021, Jaycee and Patty decided to retire, passing the baton to John Byrnes and April Reynolds. As the shop changed hands, its essence remained unchanged. Norm’s Ski & Bike Shop continues to be a family-run business deeply committed to serving and supporting the Keene community.
Continuing the Legacy
