Norm’s Ski & Bike Shop has been around for quite a while, 50+ years!
Established in 1968 on Marlboro Street, Keene, NH by Norm Sweeney, the business grew selling skis. Norm opened this business, primarily selling skis, because of his interest in and experience with skiing.
In the early 70s, skiing was really hitting popularity, both in skis and ski fashion. Technology was changing and popularity along with it. Gail came to work for Norm as a buyer/seller of skiwear and accessories. Norm and Gail married in 1978 and in 1980, they built the new ski shop at its present location, 62 Martell Court in Keene, and changed the name to Norm’s Ski & Bike Shop.
Norm and Gail Sweeney ran the business together for many years, and retired in 1997 when they sold the business to Jaycee and Patty Clark.
Jaycee Clark joined full time in 1980, working primarily as the bike and ski mechanic. Before 1980, Jaycee worked seasonally at the Marlboro Street location while in college. Jaycee was named as one of the top boot fitters in the United States in the publication, SKI IMPACT, February 1994 edition. Norm’s Ski & Bike Shop is a family run business that Jaycee and Patty and all their great employees enjoyed for over 20 years.
In March 2021, Jaycee and Patty retired and John Byrnes took ownership of the shop.
